We’d love to hear from you

Our favourite places in Tanzania, and perhaps in Africa, are only 180 km apart. For sheer diversity and abundance of nature, a live microcosm from the ancient past, nowhere else comes close.
Karen Blixen once famously said there was more light and air in Africa than anywhere else, and she was probably referring to the Serengeti plains – where the sky is apparently taller, and a lighter blue. Her lover, Denys Finch Hatton, founded the National Park there – a place of unequalled natural beauty and perhaps the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world.
At the heart of Tanzania’s wilderness and safari-scape lies the Serengeti, with the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa: over two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson’s gazelle, and a quarter million zebra. Appropriately enough ‘Serengeti’ means ‘Endless Plains’ in Maa (the Maasai language), through which, during the annual Serengeti Migration, wildebeest and zebra traipse in their millions. The migration attracts wildlife and nature enthusiasts from around the world, there to see unfold the largest, most intricate, and least disturbed ecosystem in world.
Few words can do justice to this World Heritage Site in Tanzania – the Ngorongoro Crater – one of the greatest conservation areas with spectacular views of plains, lakes, and forests, enclosed by towering walls.
Perhaps associated idioms and phrases get close to the mark: The ‘eighth wonder of the world’ – or is it in the top seven?
Or the simple beauty in the word, Ngorongoro, named by the Maasai pastoralists after the sound produced by the cowbells (ngoro ngoro).
And with a biosphere that has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time, ‘the land that time forgot’.
Time may have forgotten this ancient caldera, teeming with nature, but you won’t.
